In Roman mythology, Cupid refers to the son of Venus and Mars and is the god of love (more precisely: falling in love). He was also called Cupid or Cupidus by the Romans. The Greeks called him Eros.

Cupid is depicted as an adolescent boy who hits the heart with his arrows and thereby awakens love. What we know about Cupid is told by some ancient authors. Cupid's arrow is still a popular symbol among people in love today.
