A date is commonly referred to as an appointment or meeting to get to know each other. For people in love, this is also often called a rendezvous.
While the term “date” is probably broader because it does not just refer to the meeting or appointment of lovers, a tryst in the classic sense is a meeting between two people in love. The rendezvous is the Germanized name of the French term “rendezvous”.
Nowadays we mainly use the terms “date” and “rendezvous” to describe a romantic appointment. In journalism today, a rendezvous is described as a meeting of people with the common intention of gathering.
A special form of dating is the blind date . This is a date between two people who do not yet know each other. There is always the risk that you will not understand each other at all and the date will therefore be a failure. But let's be honest! Without a certain amount of risk, there wouldn't be that wonderful tingling in your stomach that you often feel on successful dates.
