Online Dating 2015 – New Year, new luck?

Split

New Year New luck. This may be old hat for you, but it can be seen every year that single exchanges and dating agencies record an increased number of visitors, especially after the turn of the year .

In fact, it is the first weekend in January of a new year when the largest number of singles and people looking for a partner register for the first time on an online dating platform and create their first profile.

This may be because the turn of the year creates something of a spirit of optimism in us and we go on the offensive with new vigor and momentum.

Or we're tired of spending the dark season alone in front of the television and long for some intimate time together.

Whatever the reasons may be, it's reason enough for us to take a little look ahead to the coming year.

Online dating forecast for 2015 from Zoosk

When it comes to making a meaningful forecast for the future and identifying trends early, it is of utmost importance to have a broad and reliable database as a foundation and to be able to fall back on it.

Furthermore, this data must then be analyzed and converted into useful information.

The online dating platform Zoosk easily meets these requirements. It is (with around 29 million members worldwide) much more than “just” a dating app and also shines, for example, with well-founded information, tips and advice on the subject of online dating, which is published in its own blog, among other things.

In total, Zoosk's content is followed on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) by around 14 million people (worldwide) and the organization's experts are generally highly valued and respected.

About the study:

Last year, Zoosk analyzed 430,000 dating profiles and four million messages to determine which profile formats received the greatest response. This also made it possible to derive trends for the coming year.

Interesting:

  1. Men tend to write and answer messages in the morning (especially between nine and ten o'clock), women between 10 and 11 p.m.
  2. Singles write the fewest messages in the afternoon.
  3. The “always-on” culture of today’s modern and connected world will also be reflected in online dating. This leads to more interactions in real time and throughout the day.
  4. Authenticity and honesty are very important. Platforms that manually check the profiles of their members will have a competitive advantage and will continue to gain acceptance.
  5. Photos that show an active lifestyle greatly increase the chances of receiving letters
  6. For men, a smile is better received in photos than a serious pose
  7. Intuitive technology will increasingly be able to recognize your preferences and show you appropriate partner suggestions.
  8. Selfies for women only slightly increase the chance of receiving letters (by 4%), for men they even reduce the chance of receiving letters (-8%)
  9. Photos through the mirror should be avoided. It's much better to ask a friend for a great snapshot.
  10. Full-body photos significantly increase the chance of receiving letters for both genders (+203%).
  11. Photos with a pet halve the chances of receiving letters.

What is also striking in the results is that profiles of men in which the terms “divorce”, “separated” or “my ex” appeared received 52 percent more letters; Profiles of women with the same terms, however, are four percent fewer.

One possible interpretation: Women are more interested in honesty and clear relationships with men, while men don't want to be confronted with too many details or even women's problems too early.

The two girls and declared love proclaimers Sarah and Nicola summarize the results again in the following video:
