Flirting glossary – faux pas
A faux pas is an unintentional violation, a lack of tact, against social etiquette.
This offense is usually due to thoughtlessness, ignorance or carelessness.
The expression faux pas is part of “high-class” language usage. Other names for faux pas include lapse, slip, faux pas, derailment, indiscretion.
Possible causes of a faux pas:
- Poor or incomplete general education
- Little knowledge of political or historical backgrounds
- Little knowledge of the customs and customs of foreign cultures
- Lack of skills in dealing with other people's feelings and in
- Assessment of critical situations
