Photo voting

Flirt Glossary – Photo Voting

During photo voting, images are rated in a wide variety of categories. This special form of attractiveness barometer is a relatively new invention in the field of online dating.

When voting, there are always two pictures against each other - you then have to choose one of the pictures.

The basic idea of photo voting originally comes from the USA. In 2000, two Asians named Hong and Young founded the site “Am I Hot Or Not” in Silicon Valley. In just a few months, this idea spread around the world and countless users from then on used the Internet to find out how beautiful other people think you are.

Since a lot of people always vote at the same time, photo voting also produces relatively objective judgments. For example, you can find out which photo could be the best for your personal ad.

Around 2004, a flirt function was added as a logical addition to many photo voting portals. Since 2011, however, the photo voting portals have suffered from declining popularity.

This is what the typical photo voting process looks like:

  1. You put a good photo of yourself online.
  2. Members' photos are displayed to visitors in a random order.
  3. The visitors then make a judgment on the attractiveness (voting scale of 1-10 or “duel”).
  4. You can view the result later.

By the way, it is normal for images that have already been voted on to appear again. They are always compared to other images. This is the only way a ranking can be created.
