The rapidly spreading video technology gave rise to the rise and rise of pornography . After leaving the dirty corner of the train station cinema and offering something “under the counter”, videos, followed by DVDs and now the Internet, conquered ever larger public spaces and perception.
In the course of this development, female porn actors in particular became increasingly prominent. The recognition led to the first porn star. The erotic industry reinforced the trend through appropriate marketing. One of the first porn actresses to develop porn star status was Teresa Orlowski .
The infiltration of pornography into socially accepted areas was also accompanied by revealing films, points of contact between art and porn, and public events such as sex fairs.
The Venus Award has been presented since 1994 and is considered the European “Oscar” of the relevant film industry. Overlaps of acting film activities in the hardcore and mainstream sectors meant that the classification of porn star can no longer be clearly made. The best-known example is the German actress Sibel Kekilli .
