In the context of the life reform movement, which aimed at a “renewal of the entire way of life”, naturist culture emerged around 1900.

FKK means nudism (being naked for the sake of being naked, for example in your own home) with a strong community aspect. This can be seen, for example, in the formation of nudist clubs with camping sites, nudist facilities or beaches.

Nudists (as opposed to naturists) mainly stay in these specially demarcated areas.

Naturists , on the other hand, can be found in nature and see being naked as an attitude to life in harmony with nature. Here, being naked is associated with body awareness, hardening and training of the body.

Naturism is not a fringe phenomenon of a few extravagant contemporaries, but an international cultural movement . In Germany alone, more than ten million people are interested in a naturist holiday .
